Music Video Report -
Over the next couple days, view a lot of music videos. Then, you will complete a Music Video Report, which is Due 01/11/12 (50 pts)
DETAILS - Even though Mtv doesn’t play them anymore, music videos are important marketing tools and creative outlets for musicians. In an effort to understand the relationship between music and video, I want you to see out any music video of your choice from your decade (except for the one’s I presented in class) and discuss the following:
Some questions you may want to consider:
· What is the music video’s message to the viewer?
· Is there a story or is the video simply composed of random clips.
· What makes this video unique?
· What could the video do better to make it more entertaining/relate more to the song?
· Who is the audience for the music video?
· How prominent is the band in the video?
· What kinds of edits are present in the video (a lot of editing, special effects? Simple video with minimal effects?)
· What are some unique or interesting stories that went into the making of the video?
Your report should be:
· 2-4 minutes in length
· Focus on the above questions
Bring in the music video. DO NOT BUY IT FROM ITUNES! Visit www.keepvid.com with a YouTube url and you should be able to download the video for free. If you don’t want to use keepvid, there are several other programs that will allow you to download YouTube videos FOR FREE! The video needs to be brought in on a flash drive or burned to a CD or uploaded to vimeo.com. A typed, bulleted list of your report points needs to be handed in to me on the day you give your oral presentation. Accordingly, post these bullet points to your blog.

- The human eye and its brain interface, the human visual system, can process 10 to 12 separate images per second, perceiving them individually. The visual cortex holds onto one image for about one-fifteenth of a second, so if another image is received during that period an illusion of continuity is created, allowing a sequence of still images to give the impression of motion.
